Browser Tab Keyboard Shortcuts

Browser Tab Keyboard Shortcuts

All modern browsers have the ability to open several websites in the same window with tabs. Using tabs instead of opening multiple windows keeps your screen less cluttered and makes it easier to switch back and forth between websites. Instead of using your mouse to open a new tab, you can just hit CMD and T (CMD is the button with the Apple on it) or CTRL and T on a PC. If you want to switch between tabs without using your mouse, hit CTRL-TAB (the tab key). To close a tab, hit CMD-W on a Mac or CTRL-W on a PC.

Mobile Banking

Mobile Banking

Many banks today offer several ways of banking while on the go. You can check your balance and transfer money via text message, your mobile browser, and sometimes a dedicated mobile app. Chase bank even lets you deposit checks with your smart phone (Android and iPhone). It’s simple, safe and secure. Other banks are likely to get this feature soon, so be sure to check with your bank and see if they offer it.

Google Alerts

Google Alerts are email updates of the latest Google search results on the topic of your choice. It’s an easy way to keep track of a news story, scoops on your fav celebrity, updates on your sports team, or even yourself! Just type in the search terms and choose how often you wish to receive the alert.

Saving Bookmarks to your Desktop

Saving Bookmarks to your Desktop

Sometimes you might need a reminder to visit a website again, but don’t necessarily want to add it to your bookmarks in your browser. A quick way to do this is to save a shortcut to the site on your desktop. Just go to the website, click and drag the Favicon to your desktop. The Favicon is the little icon/picture to the left of the web address (where it says http://…). Once you’ve gone back to the site, just delete the shortcut!
