
If you use certain programs or files or visit particular websites every time you start your computer, you might as well have your Mac open them for you automatically.
Open your System Preferences. Under System, click on Accounts. Click on your account from the list on the left and then click on the Login Items tab on the right. Click the Plus button to add programs, files or even website shortcuts to the list. You can also do this by dragging icons onto the list.

When you buy music or other media through iTunes, only devices authorized by your iTunes account can use them. You can authorize up to five computers to use the files you purchase. This is useful when you want to share your media with other computers in your home or with your friends.

By default, when you start up your Mac you are logged into your user account automatically. This is risky because if someone steals your computer they will have easy access to all of your data. If you require a login at startup your data is a bit more protected. To change this, follow the directions below:

A Finder window is the window that appears when you double-click the Hard Drive icon on your Mac, or any other folder (i.e. Documents, Music, Photos…). At the top, you probably see a few buttons like the Back/Next arrows and the different Finder view options.
