Non-technical people need tech tips, too! Here are some tricks (mostly Mac) for making the most out of online resources and technology. Have a question? Fill out the suggestion form below and I might create a tip just for you.

Local and Long Distance Calls

Local and Long Distance Calls

If you’re looking for an alternative to a landline, or just want to save on cell phone minutes, check out Skype or Google Voice.

An account with Skype allows you to call anyone else on Skype for free, and has low rates for calls and text messages to landlines and cell phones worldwide. They even provide you with your own phone number for free with any purchase.

Google Voice gives you free calls and text messages to any phone number in the U.S. and Canada and has low rates everywhere else. You can either use an existing phone number or get your own Google Voice number.

Both services require a computer, speakers, microphone, and an internet connection.
